Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) examination is conducted to recruit eligible candidates for various clerical posts in Central Government Departments.

The exam takes place in three levels:

  • Tier I (Computer Based Examination),
  • Tier II (Descriptive Paper), and Tier III (Skill Test/ Typing Test).

The skill test is conducted in two formats. Computer Based Test (CBT) or Offline Test (PBT). Typing test is conducted to assess the typing speed and accuracy of the candidate. The typing test is of total time duration of 10 minutes and consists of a total speed of 35 words per minute (WPM) for English and 30 WPM for Hindi.
